Traction Therapy

Intersegmental traction therapy is a procedure in which the patient lies on their back on a table (commonly referred to as a ”roller table”) that has three rotating or spinning rollers that gently move up and down on either side of the spine, helping to stretch and relax muscles and relieve pressure on the nerves. The rolling contact is constant, works electronically, and is very relaxing. It feels like waves of massage cascading up and down your spine.

Dr. Moreland or the staff at Back In Motion Chiropractic will ask you to lie down on your back on top of the intersegmental traction table, centering your back within a groove or indention that runs down the middle of the table. This groove is where the rollers are going to travel. Once properly situated with a pillow underneath the bottoms of your knees for comfort, the roller mechanism will start, and you will begin to feel a wave-like massage. Dr. Moreland or the staff will then increase the pressure to a level comfortable to you and then allow you to relax as the table works its magic.
